Hope Ammen
A lot of rich people spend a lot of money on a lot of ugly things. Now if f I was a millionaire, I think I would buy only beautiful things. I am not a millionaire. However, there is a satisfaction in simply finding beautiful things. It's nearly as fun as having them. Just less expensive. So rather than filling my shopping cart with all these beautiful things, I will simply put them in Her Octopus Garden.

My perfect, white room
Sunday, February 6, 2011

One day, when I grow up and have a house,
I am going to make one room extra special.
I am going to make one room my pure.white.room.

It will probably be in the back corner of the house, and it will be filled with windows overlooking a beautiful view: a lush, green forest, crashing, blue waves, or blue, jagged mountains. Either one will do.

And everything in this room, everything will be white.
Not stale white. I'm talking Crisp white. Lacy white. Billowy white. Soft white. Pure white.
Front and center will be my big, comfy white couch with a textured, crocheted white blanket thrown over it. Piles of white pillows on top, a thick, white rug underfoot. Flowing white curtains hanging from floor to ceiling, swaying with each breath of breeze and glittering spotlight of sun that sweeps in through those dozens of windows.

The only color allowed in my room will be in the form of plants.
A pale pink rose in a glass vase on the side table. Ivy climbing up the wall in the corner. Sunflowers peeking in through the windows. And those colors will give way to scents-- sweet scents of nature intensified by rays of sunshine.

And every morning, when the sun looks most young and jovial, I will go into my perfect, white room. I will walk in barefoot, so I can feel the cool tile floor lead into the thick, lush rug. I will allow myself to be swallowed up into my perfect, white couch with a cup of green tea, my Bible, and journal, and I will write and write and write...with the sun warming my toes and the scent of roses teasing my nose.

It will be my place of solitude, that you would feel very special to be invited in to.

Because in that place,
my life will be perfect.
Crisp, perfect, and white.

Well gee, thanks. Now I want a turban.

I'm convinced.

Waterfall Ruffle Dress
Thursday, January 27, 2011

Wearing this would feel like a dream...
a romantic, flowing, beautiful dream.

Until now...
Friday, January 21, 2011

You know, I've never really liked the idea of maxi dresses/skirts until now.
I personally thought it was a better idea just to wear a big, paper bag.
However, this is chic.
Which is funny, because I've never really like the idea of wedge heels either.

So why oh why do I love this?

Because it's just easy, breezy, beautiful.

I Love Lace
Sunday, January 9, 2011

Add lace or crochet detailing to anything and I will suddenly adore it.

It's just so pretty,
so feminine,
so romantic,
so elegant.

Pale pink, ivory, crochet, lace, chiffon, tulle.

They all combine to just make you feel like a pretty little flower girl. And who doesn't want to feel like that?

It's a really great dress now, isn't it?
[put it in the garden and now walk away, Hope]

Cause when you're tall, you might as well play it up
Saturday, January 8, 2011

I've been seeing high-waisted jeans around for a few seasons now. It's one of those things (kind of like straight-across bangs) that I adopted in high school, and now, about three years later, I'm seeing everyone else finally getting the guts to pull them out.

haha, that sounded conceited. But I'm completely serious. This was over 2 years ago people:

But, you know, apparently some things need a little more time to catch on. And apparently, 2011 is the time to seriously invest in a pair of high-waisted, wide leg, straight from the 70's jeans [although I would definitely hang onto my skinnies]

What I think I like best about these jeans is the fact that they work perfectly for people like me: tall girls. I'm pretty sure I'd like to throw these babies on with some killer heels and make my legs appear, ehh, approximately 5 miles long. Or like a clown on stilts. Either one.

And yes, they do have them everywhere now, and if I were to really get a pair I'd probably just check out a pair at Gap. BUT, since we're just talkin about "the garden" here, where I can have anything, I'd say I'd probably go with these, from Derek Lam's Spring 2011 collection, fresh off the runway:

Clown on stilts?
Maybe. But I don't care.
This look is chic.

Not even wallpaper is off-limits
Wednesday, December 22, 2010

From faux fur to wallpaper.
I really can put whatever I please in my garden.

And I love this wallpaper.
So it goes in the garden.

"Hidden in a royal geranium garden, plumed birds freely chirp the secrets of kings and queens."

Do you have any idea how perfect this would make my apartment at school? It's easily removable too, so no worries about being too permanent. Plus, it's just the right touch of warmth, texture, and style to amp up a space 110%. And deplete my bank account. By over 100 bucks.

For wallpaper.

Ok, we'll just keep this one in the garden for today :)
